1930-40: A reflection of the world

The fashions in this decade are varied to say the least. The world was still completely shaken by the the Great war that many hid away form the world and dove into the world of fashion where things changed and adapted and there was no turmoil.
Before the Second Great war, the world was disorderly, chaotic and just trying to make do with what it had, trying to pick up the pieces. In this decade the fashion very much reflected this outlook. The sudden shift from the practicality and frivolity of the 20's to the enforced femininity, softness and slim bold silhouette of the 30's had fashion followers all over the place and blinded them with luxurious fabrics as to distract from the ever growing tensions rising once more in Europe.

In 1939 war broke out once more in Europe and the fashion industry ground to an absolute halt, this time no one knew how long for.

Clothes were rationed along with every thing else from butter to cheese. Life was hard and it was, unfortunately, only going to get harder.

Despite these tense and difficult years, the fashion industry remained and continued creating flattering and elegant silhouettes, despite the circumstances.
