Women's wear returned to having the emphasis on femininity. A rounded bust and curved figure was all the rage, as was longer hair and bias cut dresses adored with frills and uneven hemlines.

Going to the movies became an easy and fun form of entertainment that captivated millions. As a result, fashion worn on screen often dictated the fashion for everyday women. Parisian designers soaked up the rich amounts of inspiration and recreated the Hollywood starlets' looks and styles. Stars such a Joan Crawford and German-American singer Marlene Dietrich were often fashion favourites.
