1930: The Slimline Silhouette surfaces

Out of all the new deigns and inspiration Hollywood delivered a new silhouette emerged from the glamour. It was new, it was slim, it was figure hugging, it had never been done before. This new silhouette featured long, narrow skirts that flattered the waist a hips of the wearer whilst widened shoulders contrasted this flow and provided a stark and bold shape to the outfit.Hemlines were once more uneven and godets were implemented below the knee, as opposed to being set in at hip length which was a feature of dresses and skirt in the 20's.
Short Bolero jackets also saw a rise to fame as many women adopted the short sweet jacket as the perfect garment to complete an evening ensemble.

Underneath all of these garments were of course, the classic stocking. These simple yet crucial pieces of nylon, a newly invented fibre at the time, allowed women to adorn their legs with soft stretchy fabric that gave their legs a neat and glossy sheen, lovely and classy to look at should their legs ever be shown in public.
