1940: It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing

As America entered the war they brought with them many new items and influences. Famous soft drink, Coca-Cola and chewing gum became extremely popular and were sought after by many. Dance crazes like the boogie woogie, big band and swing all became common place in Europe.

During this turntable turnabout fashion changed along side it. In comes the Zoot Suit. Worn by African American musicians during the 40's they had such features wide legs and lapels and a high waist, a style that has continued on to present day and is very prevalent in today's fashions. Zoot suit heavily influenced menswear after their first introduction.
