1960-70: The metal worker
In the 60's a monumental dress was made by Paco Rabanne. Ignorant of the soft, sleek fabrics of the time, Rabanne opted for an experimental material that would make sparks fly.
He designed a mini dress made entirely of aluminium plates and brass wire. He became known as the metal worker and his dress was seen as futuristic and android like.
In the 60's tradition had gone out of style and designers in every field were looking for new and innovative technologies to create their work. Paco was a pioneer in the experimental field and shocked every one again by challenging the notion that clothing had to be made from thread and fabric by presenting his plastic dress in 1966. Paco Rabanne truly gained fame in the late 1960's but his greatness go's on to this day.
