1960-70: Mods vs rockers
Everyone knows about mods and rockers; two conflicting youth subcultures in Britain with very different styles.
The mod subculture focuses on music and fashion with most mods opting to wear clean cut suits and preferred to listen to 60's era soul and beat music.
The term mod was coined when the actual term modernists became too much of a mouthful and was shortened to mod. London was the epicentre of mod culture and conflict between the rockers and mods. London was synonymous with music and fashions and became known as "Swinging London".
Mod culture is still around today however it is far less popular as fashion is constantly changing and many prefer to follow each new trend rather than sticking with one of the past.
